GSX400Eのスプロケットカバーです。これを綺麗に研磨していきます。
バイク部品でよくあるアルミ鋳物の部品ですが、細かい傷が多数入っていて部分的に腐食も見られました。
古いバイクでよく見かけるアルミ部品の状態です。
今回は表面のみの研磨となります。
このままバフ研磨に取り掛かると、腐食部分、細かい傷の部分、何も傷がない部分に差ができて美しい仕上がりになりにくいので、まずはブラスト処理をして全体的に腐食部分を落としていきます。その際ネジ穴がブラストでダレないように適当なボルトとナットで穴を塞ぎます。
ブラスト処理をする事により、部分的な腐食や細かい傷がなくなり均一の表面になってきました。全体的に深いグレーがかった色に変化していますが、平らな部分も細かい部分も均一に研磨されています。
バフ研磨の前にこのブラスト処理を施す事で、全体的な統一感が出てこの後のバフ研磨での光沢感を揃えやすくなります。
バフ研磨によって表面を平らにして光沢を出します。
ブラストによって表面がザラザラになっていたものをバフで磨いていきます。バフの番手を少しづつ上げていき、光沢が出るように仕上げていきます。
アルミはステンレスなどに比べてバフ研磨での光沢仕上げをしにくい素材です。
しかも形状が複雑でバフが入りにくい場所もあるので、様々な大きさのバフに付け替えての研磨となります。
ネジ穴とネジ穴の間のような部分は特に磨きにくい場所でもあります。
ご自宅で時間をかけて耐水ペーパーなどで磨いた事のある方は、特に苦戦する場所ではないでしょうか。
バフ研磨でもこの部分は手間のかかる部分ではありますが、可能な限りバフを当てて綺麗に仕上げていきます。
今回の部品には大きな削れた跡や、深い傷が無かったのでブラストとバフ研磨のみで完了しました。削れや深い傷がある場合には、これとはまた違った工程を追加していく必要がありますが、状態によりますが修正可能です。
