ビラーゴ４００のフロントフォークアウターチューブです。かなりの腐食が見られます。
触った感じではかなりザラザラしていて腐食は深めです。ここまでくると簡単には綺麗な状態には戻りません。
研磨に取り掛かる前に腐食部分を落として、表面を均一化させていく必要があります。
ブラスト処理をする為に、ネジ穴部分を適当なボルトで塞ぎます。こうする事でブラストによってネジ穴が変形する事を防ぎます。
こちらも同じように穴を塞ぎます。研磨の際にはこのように穴を塞いでから行います。こうしないと穴が研磨によって広がってしまったり、変形してしまったりと不具合が発生します。
ブラストによって腐食を落とします
ブラスト処理が完了した状態です。
このブラスト処理をする事で腐食をほぼ取り除く事ができました。表面も均等に肌感が揃っています。ブラストで重要なのはネジ穴の付け根や段差の部分なども同じような肌感に仕上げる事です。これによってこの後の工程が綺麗に仕上がります。
バフ研磨で光沢を出します
バフ研磨で光沢を出した状態です。
このバフ研磨は１工程ではなく、状態に合わせてバフを変えて何工程も磨いてあります。まずはブラストのザラザラした肌感を平らに均す工程、表面をなめらかにする工程、光沢を出す工程などバフの種類や大きさを変えてひたすら磨いていきます。
振動バレルで更に光沢を出します
バフ研磨で光沢仕上げをした後に、振動バレルによって更に光沢を出します。
光沢仕上げは磨き上がったばかりの状態は非常に綺麗ですが、表面がツルツルしている分、傷も入りやすく目立ちやすい状態です。
これに振動バレルの工程を入れる事で、スチールボールによって表面を叩かれた状態となる為、バフ研磨完了時よりも表面が硬貨します。その為、傷が入りにくく綺麗な状態を維持しやすい仕上がりとなります。
